A workable solution to the cross-border drug trafficking problem

On Hanity’s America on Sunday, December 30, 2007, the problem of cross border drug smuggling was discussed, especially in its relationship to so-called black tar heroin. The numbers are staggering, and the effect on our children is beyond measure.

Despite this, we seem virtually paralyzed in our ability to do anything about the situation. We treat these drug smugglers as if they were American citizens with the same rights as you and I have, and therein lies the problem. We track them, identify them, and eventually, we even arrest some of them. Then we put them in jail and then deport them, or just deport them, and a few weeks later they are back. In the meantime, each child given just one dose of this drug becomes practically an instant heroin addict with a life-long problem – those who don’t die, that is. And, by any measure, we are letting this happen, because – for some incomprehensible reason – we insist on treating these monsters as we treat our own citizens.

I have a simple, straightforward solution to this problem. Commencing immediately, we issue shoot-to-kill orders to the border patrol, homeland security, and any other agents assigned to keep track of this problem. We have a fleet of helicopters we currently use to track these people. From now on, instead of tracking them, we shoot them on sight, from the air, without warning, along the entire southern border.

These people are attacking our country as surely as if they were marching across the border in armed uniformed platoons, or bombing our cities. They are killing our children, and we must stop it. My proposal will do just that – immediately.

I’m confused… aren’t you ALSO in favor of repealing all laws that address “victimless” crimes, including those that create controlled classes of substances?

As an alternative to your solution, why not simply legalize ALL substances… thus opening the way for legitimate import and trade by free and responsible citizens, and completely drying up the black market overnight?

I’m all for shooting trespassers, but what you’re proposing would stack a new mess atop an old one. I favor clearing away the old mess—read, END PROHIBITION—and then shooting gate-crashers as a matter of simple national security rather than in support of a set of national blue laws that shouldn’t exist in the first place.

I am in favor of such laws, BUT in the present environment, that ideal is just that, an ideal. In the meantime, thugs are poisoning American children using deceit and coercion. I, for one, am completely comfortable killing these rats from the air, on the ground, in the water, and any way else we can – no warning, no trial, no second chances.
